The University of Arizona Applied Research Corporation (UA-ARC) and the University of Arizona (UArizona) Center for Digital Humanities are working on an Augmented/Virtual/Mixed Reality project for the Unites States Army Intelligence Center of Excellence (USAICoE). The project entails taking images of the entire 1LT John Fox East Range located on Fort Huachuca using a drone called the WINGRA II. The thousands of images captured are stitched together and turned into a 3D model for importing into a AR/VR/MR application to provide soldiers and instructors the ability to virtually navigate individual and team training requirements in a three-dimensional (3D) environment from any designated location. This effort is being executed by University of Arizona students within the Center for Digital Humanities and with the support of the University of Arizona High Performance Computing Center.
