Senator Mark Kelly visited the University of Arizona Applied Research Corporation (UA-ARC) for an overview of UA-ARC capabilities and special facilities. UA-ARC is a non-profit, 501.c.3 corporation established to help leverage the University of Arizona research enterprise into national security applications. UA-ARC will be supporting the University of Arizona’s Defense Civilian Training Corps (DCTC) Pilot Program to begin this fall semester. The Defense Civilian Training Corps was established to develop a modernized, multi-disciplinary civilian talent pipeline for the DoD. DCTC provides the targeted education, development and experiences required to meet current and future complex demands on the DoD workforce.
“I applaud the UA-ARC’s mission of partnering with the University of Arizona community to serve our great state and the nation. Leveraging expertise from defense experts to prepare our best and brightest students for careers in national security will strengthen our civilian talent pipeline, ensuring Arizona continues to lead the country in addressing our greatest security challenges,” said Senator and 25-year Navy veteran Mark Kelly.
